Variance Request For An Accessory Use

This is a request for a variance in a commercial zone to allow the addition of an on-premise business sign on the west side of Pier 1 Imports' Germantown, Tennessee store. Pier 1 exists as an anchor tenant of Germantown Village Square Mall shopping center. The address of the subject property is 7730 Poplar Avenue, Suite #7, Germantown, Tennessee.

Pier 1 Imports is requesting permission to place a second set of individual letters reading "PIER 1 IMPORTS" two (2) feet high, to be reverse lighted on the west side of the Pier 1 Imports building. These letters will be the same size and lit in the same manner as the present set of letters on the east side of the Pier 1 Imports building. Because the building sits at an angle, the present set of letters can only be seen from traffic traveling in a westerly direction. The new set of letters will only be seen by traffic traveling in an easterly direction.
