Section 9:
Additional Sign Is Permitted Under Code
If you read the code it clearly states that entrances are to have signs. There is an alcove on the Pier 1 building that circles the entrance. The entrance is on both sides and we believe that there is a technical argument to be made that the entrance is here and with the minor addition of a door, the additional sign could be granted. It is within the scope, purpose, and intent of the accessory land use regulation. We, however, do not wish to pursue this route and request your consideration for a variance for our store. Again, we are not asking for a sign that is not outlined and basically anticipated to be permitted in Germantown's sign code. We are not asking for a variance as to the type of sign. The type of sign we are requesting is permitted by implication in the code and with a slight modification which we wish not to make, it would be a permitted sign.
